Gigabyte’s mini PC has Ryzen 5000 and ports for four monitors

Gigabytes mini PC has Ryzen 5000 and ports for four monitors

The new barebones from Gigabyte also have two free RAM banks and space for a 2.5-inch drive. All of this is as compact as possible. At the Online-Computex 2021, Gigabyte will present new mini-PCs from its own Brix series. The new Brix system will be equipped with the latest AMD Ryzen 5000U processor of the Cezanne generation. This is currently considered to be one of the most powerful mobile SoC series.

Gigabyte speaks of a performance increase of about 16% (single thread) and 14% in multi-threaded operation compared to the Ryzen 4000 Renoir. The Ryzen 7 5800U will be available for selection. This one uses 8 Zen 3 cores and 16 threads.

Gigabyte puts the hardware in a relatively compact 14 x 13.5 x 4.3 cm housing. Despite the small volume, a maximum of 64 GB DDR4-3200 in dual-channel via SO-DIMM slots and an M.2-2280 SSD (PCIe 3.0 x4) should fit into it. A 2.5-inch drive slot is also provided for some variants.

Five USB-A ports

The Brix Mini PC integrates a WiFi 6E module (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5. On the sides of the housing, five USB-A ports (3.2 Gen2) and two USB-C sockets can be accessed. One of them is designed for display port in alternate mode. There are also two more HDMI connections and the now rare Mini Displayport. In total, the PC supports a maximum of four screens. In addition to WLAN, a network connection is also possible via RJ45 with 2.5 Gbit Ethernet.

So far, Gigabyte has not yet commented on prices and exact availability. The company does not want to offer the Brix PCs until the third quarter of 2021 at the earliest. Previous models of the Brix series are sold as barebones, i.e. without RAM and mass storage. The price is around 500 euros for AMD Renoir variants.
